Lameque Island

Isles of Acadie (Acadian Coastal Drive)

Lamèque Island boasts the most French flavour in New Brunswick but the welcome is warm whatever your language. The constant daily winds, shallow water in the lagoons, and the warm waters of Chaleur Bay make the perfect blend for wonderful kitesurfing conditions: this island is the best place in Canada to learn and practice kitesurfing. It is also home to a renowned annual baroque music festival, and the Ecological Park of the Acadian Peninsula. Try and visit in autumn when the peat bogs are aflame with vibrant colours.

You can reach the island via a 1km causeway / bridge combination which crosses the Shippagan Gut.
