Ferries

All that coastline, those islands and those rivers and lakes mean plenty of opportunities to see New Brunswick from the water.

Our wonderful ferries can take you far off the beaten track to isolated islands where small communities will show you how to slow down and experience the joys of nature.

Coastal Transport operates car ferries year-round between Blacks Harbour and Grand Manan Island, and between Grand Manan Island and White Head Island.

The New Brunswick government operates car ferries year-round across Passamaquoddy Bay between Letete and Deer Island. Several other New Brunswick government-operated car ferry routes cross rivers on the mainland, many such as that at Gagetown (near Fredericton) are cable ferries.

Between late June and early / mid September car ferries operated by East Coast Ferries  link Deer Island with Eastport, Maine, USA, and with Campobello Island. The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bridge connects Campobello Island with Lubec, Maine, USA.

Or if you must leave our beautiful province (and why would you) you can take a ferry across the Bay of Fundy! Carrying up to 600 passengers and 180 vehicles, the Princess of Acadia takes 3 hours to travel between Saint John and Digby, Nova Scotia. The vessel operates year-round, with two sailings per day between late June and mid-September. Don't forget to look out for whales!
